easyJet, Europe’s Fifth Largest Airline is About to Recruit Over 1,200 New Cabin Crew

easyJet is about to embark on a huge recruitment campaign with plans to hire over 1,200 new cabin crew in the coming months.  The airline said it will be boosting its staff numbers to help aid the carrier’s growth throughout Europe.  easyJet currently employs 6,900 cabin crew across the continent so this latest recruitment drive is going to significantly bolster the airline’s workforce.

Tina Milton, who is easyJet’s Head of Cabin Service commented: “easyJet is a fantastic company to work for with everyone across the airline working together as one team to ensure we provide the highest standard of service for our customers.”  She said she was “delighted to be opening recruitment” with applications now being accepted on the official easyJet careers website.

As the fifth largest airline in Europe, easyJet currently operates 880 routes across 31 countries.  The airline has cabin crew based at 28 stations across Europe and is offering both permanent and fixed term contracts at the majority of its bases.

easyJet says new cabin crew will join the airline at an “exciting time” with benefits including “access to a number of rewards, high-quality training and opportunities for career development.”  Although easyJet is a low-cost carrier, it offers one of the best salary and benefits packages in the industry including 10% commission on all onboard sales.

New cabin crew will work onboard the airline’s fleet of Airbus aircraft, including the brand new A320Neo.  You’ll join as a junior cabin crew and work alongside two other flight attendants and a Cabin Manager.  The initial training programme involves a three-week course, paid for by the airline and a series of e-learning packages.

To be successful, you’ll need to ensure “the highest safety standards are met and provide a friendly service for easyJet’s 70 million passengers every year.”  Here are some of the minimum requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Between 5’2” (157.5 cm) to 6’3” (190cm) in height (without shoes)
  • Able to speak and write English fluently
  • A confident swimmer – able to swim 25 metres and tread water for 60 seconds.
  • No visible tattoos or body piercings

You’ll also need to prove your ability to “deliver outstanding customer service”, team working skills and a track record in achieving sales targets.  A full list of locations and further details can be found on the official easyJet careers website.

As a British-based airline, easyJet has been particularly concerned about the impact of Brexit on the airline’s fortunes.  Last week, easyJet announced that it had successfully obtained an air operators certificate in Austria to allow it to continue flying throughout Europe no matter what happens.

easyJet will be re-registering approximately 110 of its 270 strong fleet of aircraft into its new ‘easyJet Europe’ operation.  easyJet’s chief executive, Carolyn McCall, said the airline’s plans would ensure its success into the future.

She continued: “In addition, like all other European airlines, we continue to lobby for an EU UK aviation agreement which, as a minimum, will enable flights between the EU and the UK.”
