Scandinavian Airline SAS is Offering People the Chance to Work as Cabin Crew Part Time - Perfect for Students

This is an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often.  The Scandinavian airline, SAS is offering aspiring Cabin Crew the opportunity for a career in the skies on a part-time basis.  It’s part of the airline’s ‘Resources Pool’ initiative – a flexible contract where you mostly work during busy periods such as the summer holidays, Christmas and at weekends.

SAS is currently accepting applications for this role at its bases in Oslo, Stockholm/Arlanda and Copenhagen.  The deadline for applications is the 31st December, but we recommend submitting your application sooner rather than later.

If you fancy a full time job with SAS, there are permanent positions available in London as part of the airline’s new Irish subsidiary. We’ve included more details on this job further down.

For the Resources Pool position, you’ll need to speak at least one Scandinavian language and English fluently.  You’ll also need to meet these minimum requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Successfully completed secondary education
  • Between 160cm to 190cm tall
  • Excellent eyesight – at least 0.7 without correction
  • A confident swimmer
  • Physically fit and healthy

You don’t need to have any previous experience as Cabin Crew but you must have at least 2 years experience in the service industry.  SAS says it is looking for new crew who are “responsible, responsive and caring.”  You’ll also need to work closely as a team towards a common goal and put the customer at the heart of everything you do.

As with all jobs in the aviation industry, you’ll be expected to work irregular hours with short notice changes at all times of day (and night).  Excellent punctuality is a must.

If this sounds like the job for you, then SAS is accepting applications via its online recruitment centre now.  You can find the link here.  Successful candidates will start training from February 2018 – the course is full time and takes 4 weeks although it’s important to note that you won’t be paid during this time.

More details on London-based Cabin Crew jobs

If however, you fancy a more permanent position then SAS is still accepting applications for experienced Cabin Crew for its Irish subsidiary based out of London Heathrow airport.

The good news about this position is that it’s a long-term permanent contract and its open to non-Scandinavian language speakers.  However, you do need to have at least two years experience as Cabin Crew, operating on either Airbus A320 model aircraft or Boeing 737 aircraft.

All of the positions are only open to candidates who already have the right to live and work in Europe.  You must hold a passport that allows you to travel freely to SAS destinations worldwide.

Recruitment for London-based positions are handled by CAE Parc Aviation and applications can be submitted via their website, here.  Training will start in March 2018 and you’re encouraged to submit your application as soon as possible.  You must have an up to date CV and a full-length photo (ensure you are wearing formal business attire).
