Gulf Air is Hiring Cabin Crew and ‘Sky Chefs’ in the United Kingdom and South Africa

The Bahraini national airline, Gulf Air is holding a number of cabin crew Open Day’s and recruitment events in both the United Kingdom and South Africa over the next few months.  Candidates can either apply via the airline’s official recruitment website or by attending one of the Open Day’s to submit their CV in person.

Gulf Air used to be the official airline for a number of countries in the region including the UAE but has recently positioned itself as a boutique airline with a much smaller route network and aircraft fleet than competitors like Emirates and Qatar Airways.  Last year, the carrier launched a new five-year business plan with a focus on fleet modernisation and new destinations.

Unlike other recruitment campaigns run by the airline in the past, Gulf Air is now accepting applications from both male and female candidates, although there is, unfortunately, an upper age limit.  The airline is looking for applicants who will exceed the expectations of customers and who can act as ambassadors to secure the loyalty and repeat business of customers.

The minimum criteria for this role include:

  • Aged between 23-30 years old
  • At least 160cm tall with weight proportionate to height
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Educated to at least Secondary School/High School level
  • Able to swim at least 50 metres unaided
  • No visible tattoo’s or scars

As well as these minimum criteria, Gulf Air is particularly interested in hearing from candidates with previous service industry experience.  Although this isn’t absolutely essential, you should nonetheless be able to demonstrate that you are customer service orientated, with a “pleasant personality” and the ability to work under pressure.

Successful candidates will be based in Bahrain’s capital, Manama and will be provided with free shared accommodation.  Gulf Air also promises a tax-free wage of $2,380 USD per month, along with medical insurance, 36-days of annual leave per year and flight benefits including a free annual leave ticket.

Recruitment events are taking place in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and South Africa throughout January, February and March 2019:
