British Airways Testing New Safety Video Featuring Tennis Superstar Emma Raducanu On Focus Groups

British Airways is currently testing a new safety video featuring a slew of famous faces, including tennis superstar and airline brand ambassador Emma Raducanu, according to reports by some frequent flyers who have had an opportunity to watch and critique the video before it’s rolled out.

Other celebrities to star in the video include English Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge who has launched several partnerships with British Airways over the last few years, as well as rapper Little Simz, and Samoan-born New Zealand chef Monica Galetti who has starred in the long-running cookery competition Masterchef.

The video will also feature British Ghanaian tailor Oswald Boateng who designed the recently unveiled British Airways uniform. The new-look uniform is expected to be rolled out at some point during Summer 2023 despite some controversy surrounding the design.

Other famous faces to make appearances in the video include entrepreneur Steven Bartlett and political commentator Robert Peston.

One of the few people who have already set eyes on the video said they expect the latest version to polarize opinion, with some frequent flyers anticipated to love it and others to equally hate it.

The video is expected to explore aspects of modern Britain through the airline’s ‘British Original’ campaign that will feature celebrities in various locations around the country, including in a council estate.

Another frequent flyer said on the ‘Flyer Talk’ messaging board that they thought the video was “progressive”, although the final version could be changed and at least another day’s worth of shooting is still expected to take place.

British Airways last unveiled its last safety video in June 2018, which also featured a host of well-known celebrities, including Sir Michael Caine, Joanna Lumley and David Walliams.

The video was the second in a series featuring British comedian Asim Chaudhry who played a less-than-competent film director. As well as imparting key safety messages, the video was also used to promote BA’s Flying Start charity partnership.

British Airways pulled the safety video during the pandemic and has relied on manual demos performed by cabin ever since. A British Airways spokesperson declined to comment on this story and said the airline was not yet ready to share information about its new inflight safety video.
