A flight attendant and the bus driver who was driving an airline crew to their hotel in Manhattan, New York City, on Monday night have been killed in a horror smash on the Long Island Expressway after the crew shuttle bus reportedly smashed into two cars before colliding with the center divider, flipping over, and colliding with two more cars in the opposite lane.

The gruesome incident occurred at approximately 11:45 pm near the Greenpoint Avenue exit, not far from the entrance to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, injuring dozens of other crew members and motorists.

The airline crew worked for Royal Jordanian, the national flag carrier of Jordan. They had just completed an 11-hour flight to New York JFK from Amman. Flight RJ-8261 had departed Amman around five hours later than the usual daily service that Royal Jordanian operates to New York.

The flight landed at around 9:45 pm, and after clearing customs, the crew boarded the shuttle bus to get to their crew layover hotel in Midtown, Manhattan.

Along with the tragic death of one flight attendant and the driver of the crew shuttle bus, the driver of one of the cars that the bus collided with in the opposite lane is said to be in critical condition.

Two dozen passengers on the crew shuttle bus were also transported to local area hospitals, and two other motorists caught up in the crash were said to be in a stable condition after being taken to the hospital.

Local news stations report that the shuttle bus driver had previous violations for speeding, disobeying traffic control devices, and dangerous driving. He was also a registered sex offender and had a previous arrest for burglary.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Royal Jordanian said the airline expressed its “profound sorrow over this unfortunate incident.”

  • How does a sex offender, burglar and other crimes get a job driving a bus? He can’t be held accountable for his actions, but ever who his employer is can and should be. Please finish the out come.

This pretty much sums up that those who protect criminals should be held accountable. this man should have been behind bars not driving a bus full of people. The Judge or judges that let him walk should be held accountable as accessories to negligent homicide. This will only continue and get worse if WE THE PEOPLE don’t do something about it.
