A veteran Spirit Airlines flight attendant has been identified as the victim in a deadly shooting in the Lucerne Lakes neighborhood of Lake Worth in the early hours of July 15.

Cynthia Sciarrone Seith, who was about to turn 55, was found by deputies from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office at around 3 am on Tuesday in the 4700 block of Lucerne Lakes Boulevard after they were called to reports of an unresponsive female.

Seith was tragically found dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. The motive behind the shooting has not yet been established, but detectives do not believe the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

The PBSO Violent Crimes Division is investigating the incident, with detectives urging anyone who saw or heard anything to get in touch, as they work to identify a suspect.

Seith’s identity was released shortly after her next of kin had been informed. It soon emerged that Seith was a Spirit Airlines flight attendant based out of Fort Lauderdale.

An internal memo sent to Spirit crewmembers from the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA-CWA) said, “It is with deep sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our fellow Flight Attendant, Cynthia Seith, on July 15, 2025.”

“Cynthia was a beloved member of our Fort Lauderdale base, and her sudden loss is felt deeply across our entire Spirit family.”

In a statement, a spokesperson for Spirit Airlines told us: “We are heartbroken to learn about Cynthia’s tragic passing. We send our deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, and colleagues and have offered our support to them during this difficult time.”

The incident comes just months after a long-serving American Airlines flight attendant was stabbed to death during a layover in downtown Denver.

Celinda Levno, 71, had worked for American Airlines for more than three decades when she was attacked on the 16th Street Mall close to California Street on January 11.

Levno was rushed to the hospital with serious throat injuries following the attack, but was pronounced dead on her arrival at the Emergency Room.

She was one of three innocent pedestrians who were randomly attacked by the assailant within just a few minutes in downtown Denver. The following evening, a fourth stabbing occurred, but on this occasion, detectives were patrolling the areas and quickly apprehended the alleged perpetrator.

Elijah Caudill has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Levno and 34-year-old Nicholas Burkett.
