This is the moment a car crashed through the entrance of Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) on Friday evening, ploughing through the check-in area and crashing into a Delta Air Lines baggage desk, where it finally came to rest.
The extraordinary moment was caught on camera by a passenger at the airport who was standing just feet away from where the car came crashing through the entrance, sending debris flying.
Thankfully, the check-in area was quiet at the time of the incident at around 7:30 pm on January 23, but the Wayne County Airport Authority Fire Department treated six people with injuries.
The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody by airport police, but it remains unclear whether the incident was an accident or a deliberate act.
Footage taken by other passersby after the incident shows the driver getting out of the vehicle with his hands in the air as police arrive at the scene. The driver appeared calm and initially cooperated with law enforcement before suddenly trying to run through the TSA checkpoint.
The suspect was quickly apprehended by police and taken to the ground, where he was arrested.

The incident raises immediate questions about the security measures in place at DTW, given that you would expect to find vehicle blocking bollards on the curbside designed to prevent a vehicular attack.
Interestingly, video footage shows some bollards at the side of the entrance, but not at the point the vehicle drove through the sliding doors. There are no bollards located on the curbside.
