Police Bodycam Shows Moment American Airlines Flight Attendant Is Arrested At DFW For Being Drunk
- A flight attendant who had been working for American Airlines for just six weeks was arrested at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport after admitting to drinking a bottle and a half of Champagne while on duty and about to work a flight.
Police bodycam footage has been obtained from the Dallas Fort Worth Airport Police Department showing an American Airlines flight attendant being arrested for being drunk and assaulting his supervisor after admitting to drinking a bottle and a half of Champagne just before working a flight.
The chaotic 20-minute video shows the flight attendant being trussed up with leg restraints and a spit mask being put over his head after he attempted to resist the arresting officers.
The incident occurred back in May 2024 but has now gone viral after the popular ‘Police On Scene’ YouTube channel obtained the bodycam footage. The video has since been viewed more than half a million times.
The footage starts with the police arriving at a quiet gate area, but the incident quickly escalates when they enter the jetbridge and find the young male flight attendant in a shouting match with two supervisors who are chasing him up the aerobridge.
Unsteady on his feet and slurring his words, it doesn’t take long for the responding police officers to ascertain that the flight attendant was very drunk… so drunk, in fact, that one of the officers describes the crew member as being “s**tfaced.”
The flight attendant attempted to avoid criminal charges related to his drunkenness by claiming he was simply ‘deadheading’ on the flight, although a supervisor later confirmed that he was actually meant to be the Number 1 flight attendant who leads the service in First Class.
That wasn’t, however, the only trouble that the flight attendant was in. After being challenged by supervisors who had been called by concerned coworkers, the flight attendant allegedly pushed one of his managers as he tried to barrel down the jetbridge.
He then became increasingly agitated after a supervisor took possession of his bag and found what appeared to be a collection of miniature alcohol bottles in his luggage.
After being wheeled out of the airport on a passenger wheelchair, the flight attendant is put in a police cruiser, where he starts kicking the door while screaming, “I don’t belong here” – an action that got criminal mischief added to his charges.
Just like pilots and other safety-critical aviation workers, flight attendants are prohibited from consuming alcohol while on duty. Flight attendants are also banned from drinking alcohol within at least eight hours of starting their shift, and even then, they cannot have an alcohol concentration of 0.04 or greater.

AA’s tolerance to drunk employees is unusually high, as they will oblige them to go to rehab with the airline covering all costs. You have a mental breakdown or panic attack while on the job and you get no second chance. Alcohol-related YES. Non alcohol-related NO. Had this fa been black or Hispanic, he would not have been given a second chance.
