A Southwest Airlines gate agent has gone viral after she was caught on camera browsing an online clothes store while also talking to a customer at the podium.
The gate agent didn’t let her conversation with the customer distract her for one moment as she effortlessly scrolled through a selection of handbags and shoes.

The video was uploaded to the popular social media site TikTok by user Triceyb2 with the caption: “When you’re at the customer service counter and the agent is shopping.”
The video was accompanied by the song Do Your Job by Gator Now&Later.
Not that the customer seemed to be fazed by the gate agent’s extracurricular activities. In fact, it doesn’t even seem as if she has any idea that the gate agent is both handling her issue and browsing an online store.
Whether it’s appropriate to be browsing the internet on personal business while also helping customers is, though, open to debate.
You might think that commentators would be unhappy with the gate agent’s work ethic, but many came out in her defense, saying it was simply no different than what many office workers do day in, day out.
One person commented: “Just wait until you find out what wfh [work from home] agents are doing.” We’ll leave that to your imagination.
Another wrote: “The Nordstrom sale is happening I don’t blame her,” while third commented: “God forbid the agent know how to multitask.”
Gate agents for US-based airlines can have a reputation for being a bit surly, but I’d rather deal with an agent who was pleasant and helpful, even if that meant they were checking out an online sale at the same time!
