Global pop superstar Katy Perry, best known for her Billboard chart hits Firework, Roar, and Dark Horse, has heaped praise on flight attendants at Air Canada who leapt into action to help save the life of one of the singer’s seatmates during a flight to Los Angeles on Saturday evening.
The 41-year-old pop princess, who shot to stardom with her bestselling Teenage Dream album, had no doubt been returning home after visiting her boyfriend, Justin Trudeau, the ex-Prime Minister of Canada, who lives in the Outremont district of Montreal.
Perry was flying back to Los Angeles aboard Air Canada flight AC-779, which departed Montreal-Trudeau International Airport at 6:35 pm on May 23 for the five and a half hour flight to Los Angeles.
Fun Fact: Montreal-Trudeau International Airport is named after Justin Trudeau’s father, Pierre Trudeau, who served as Canada’s Prime Minister from 1968 to 1979 and again from 1980 to 1984. The airport was renamed from Montreal Dorval Airport in 2004.
During what should have been a routine flight, however, Perry says that one of the other passengers was suddenly taking ill. What she witnessed next, truly inspired Perry.
Taking to X, Perry wrote:
“Last night I flew on an Air Canada flight #AC779 from Montreal to LAX, and I watched a medical emergency happen on the plane. I was so impressed with the level of attentiveness and quick action from the crew that I just want to highlight the level of professionalism and consideration they had for the passenger.”
Thankfully, the quick actions of the cabin crew meant that the passenger was okay, with Perry adding:

“The medical situation was resolved on the flight, and everyone left ok. Good for you Air Canada!”
It didn’t take long for Air Canada’s social media team to see Perry’s post, with a representative of the airline replying: “Thank you Katy, we will make sure to send your kind words to the team onboard. We are sure they will be more than happy to see this.”
In a world of celebrities putting airlines on blast for minor inconveniences, Perry’s kind words on X struck a chord with her more than 86 million followers on the platform, with hundreds of people praising her for taking the time to call out the hard work of the Air Canada flight attendants.
“Well done Air Canada! Nice one too from you Katy for appreciating Air Canada publicly,” one person wrote. “You didn’t have to but you did. Goes to show that it’s not all about complaints but commendation too when deserved.”
While a crew member at another airline shared the inspiration that Perry had given him to pursue his dream career: “I became a flight attendant because of you! You inspired me so much throughout the years to just be myself and do what I love fearlessly!”
“Today I am what I always wanted to be, and I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved. Thank you for existing,” the fan shared.
Despite months of speculation about Perry’s relations with Justin Trudeau, the couple only went ‘Instagram official’ last December when Perry shared a string of photos for a trip they went on together to Japan.
